Crystal Kelly scored 15 points for the Sacramento Monarchs, who held off the Atlanta Dream for a 77-73 victory Friday night. It was the third straight win for Sacramento (11-11), which moved past idle Minnesota and into fourth place in the Western Conference. After having nearly a week off, the Monarchs are now in a stretch of six games in 10 days. Nicole Powell had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Monarchs.

Jia Perkins scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures and the Chicago Sky beat Connecticut 73-65 on Friday night, sending the Sun to their fifth straight loss. Chasity Melvin scored 13, K.B. Sharp had 12, Candice Dupree had 11 and rookie Quianna Chaney added a career-high 10 for Chicago (7-14), which won for just the second time in seven games. Asjha Jones scored 17 for the Sun (13-10), who have lost five consecutive road games.

Liberty to meet Fever in historic Outdoor Classic
Move over, Roger Federer. Venus and Serena Williams, too. The WNBA is taking over center court at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Since opening in 1997, the world's largest outdoor tennis-only venue has been the main stadium for the U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It's where the Williams sisters have won two women's titles each, and Federer the last four men's championships.

Deanna Nolan scored 21 of her 26 points in the first half and led five players in double figures as the Detroit Shock cruised to a 99-62 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night. Nolan made eight of her first nine shots and closed the first quarter with nine straight points to give Detroit a 33-12 lead. The Shock's 55-27 halftime advantage featured the most points the Mystics have relinquished in any opening half this season.
